For those who KNOW what they are talking about!?

I just got a blackberry pearl. and i wanted to know if you if you guys could give me some advice on using it. I got the blackberry 8100 In white. I love it so far but the texting is a bit difficult. How long does it take to catch onto it? Right now i takes me 5 mins to reply to a text where as before.. it took me a min or less. LOL Anyway, does anyone know of a program that allows you to change the color of the trackball? I saw someone with a colorful looking trackball. Any secrets and ways to work around the software to do cool and unique things?For those who KNOW what they are talking about!?The texting is pretty easy once you know what youre doing. The key is to look at ur thumbs not the screen. The awesome thing about the BB Pearl is that the more you use it the smarter it gets. The predictive text is pretty advanced.



As for the colored pearl... i know this sounds crazy but I was sworn to secrecy on how to do it, and it does not involve taking it apart and coloring it with different colored markers...but i will e-mail you the link to do so, just as long as you will do the same...

Remember what it was like first texting from a cell phone?? You eventually catch on and get faster. The frustrating part is impatient people that are waiting for answers that keep texting you while you're trying to respond to their first darn text! I don't know of any %26quot;secrets%26quot; to getting it to do certain things, but you can modify them at certain electronic stores (which will screw up any warranty you have on it if they catch you!). You can call your provider and ask what they offer, but I'm sure it will cost you!

    Blackberry Curve 8310...need help?

    Why does it look like I have messages waiting when I don't? There is a number 5 with a picture of an envelope in the upper rightish of the screen but I have no unopened texts or voicemail messages....

    Also, how do you remove the M or W next to the name in the call log?

    alright so i have two questions

    one- i have att and i wanna change the trackball color on my phone i had the led lights so i can do it. but i want it to be free, what is the best way to go about doing this.

And as for the MMS do you have a data plan?? Becuase without one you won't have the service books that you need.     But you can google FROM YOUR PHONE to the internet and download software for the trackball.



    Or when people call you make it change colors.



    Just go to call logs, menu, options, general options, ringtone lighting, and select trackball, then save

    go on google and type colorpearl then click on a link and download it then get the usb and hook it up and application loader and load it then click add and find colorpearl and download it it takes 5-6 minuets to reboot!

    Blackberry pearl lock feature?

    I love this phone, but have one question%26quot; Is there a way you can take off lock (just so that it wont lock when out of use for a certain amount of time), but still keep it so that when you do manually lock it you must type in a password to unlock it?     I got a question if you can do anything cool on it like maybe change trackball color or control led light up on top or how to get GPS for free. so please tell me all you know about this phone and where can i get some free cracks and hacks on it too.     Also, there are no free GPS programs either. The best thing would be Google Maps (go to googlemaps.com on your Blackberry).Ok i got BlackBerry Curve 8320 and ......?Brown Suga is correct. The only BlackBerry that allows the changing of the track ball color is the original Pearl 8100.



    As for free GPS your best bet for a program is Google Maps Mobile. You can download it by going to http://google.com/gmm using the BlackBerry browser. You will need to have a data plan of some sorts in order to use the program, with a BlackBerry data plan being the one recommended.

    Hey all, I need a little help with this application..



    I did a little research and found on the 8100 you could change the color of the trackball. Does it work with the tmobile phone? I downloaded the app, but when I tried to run the blackberry desktop app loader it said no files were found that went along with the bb..Can some one please help me out? The websites where I found the app do not provide help..they just show videos of the light working...and also instructions how to find it in the phone..but no help with downloading on the desktop and loading into the blackberry device.

Usually with BB applications you have to install it on the computer first then connect the BB and use the application loader to install it on the device. It shouldn't be cell provider specific as far as the compatibility of the application is concerned. Try www.blackberry.com/bts for further support, its RIM's knowledge base.

Thanks x)How do i change my blackberry's track ball color?you can change the color of a blackberry track ball if you have the blackberry pearl 8310 if you download the application. all other blackberry's are not made with the color changing light. you can, however, take the track ball out of the phone and color the light with a marker (however this is DEFINITELY NOT recommended, and if you do so the warranty will no longer be in effect) I, personally, went to ebay and just bought a color trackball for only $4.00... and I LOVE it!

It's the only pearl with built in LED lights. If you have the 8100 then go into your options %26amp; the application name should be in there somewhere letting you change the color.

I'm on the phone right now.Can the trackball on my blackberry curve 8320 change colors?Unfortunately the hack you're thinking about which changes the trackball color of the Blackberry only works with the Pearl and not the Curve. There is a way to physically remove the ball and apply colored tape, but I wouldn't recommend that for fear of irreversible damage to the handheld.

    The first answer is correct. On those applications on Handango only the LED color (notification LED) will change colors, not the actual trackball.     Best way if you have the internet feature on your phone is to do the OTA (Over-the-air) install.



    If you do it from your PC then you need to unzip it, and use the blackberry software (particularly the application loader) to put on your phone (via USB).



    Once on the phone:



    From the Menu, go to the %26quot;Options%26quot; icon (picture of a wrench).

    Then look for %26quot;Colorpearl%26quot; from the list.

    Open %26quot;Colorpearl%26quot;, select the color you want, and there you go!

    Unfortunately the only BlackBerry that this will work on is the Pearl 8100.



    The reason is, the 8100 is the only device with the colored LEDs behind the trackball. So there is no available download for the 8800, Curve/8300, Pearl 2/8120/8130.I have a blackberry pearl 8130 and i want to know if u can change the trackball color and if so than how?The only way you can change the color of your Blackberry pearl 8130 is to pop the trackball off and color the LED light under the trackball with any dry erase marker. There is a video of how to do this on Youtube. Hope I helped?

Just search it on the site if you really want to know how, though I do not recommend doing it. You have to be very gentle when removing the trackball and one slip could mess the interior up. Having a busted trackball is annoying- not worth it.How do you change the track ball color for the blackberry pearl 8100?I got the phone under the same premise but be warned that the T-Mobile version doesn't have that feature. Besides that I suggest looking for programs on your phone. They are often on sites that contain free music downloads.



    Im not sure what the other answer is talking about but the color change is standard on other phones and doesnt involve removing the track ball.

    Anyway to change the trackball on my Blackberry Pearl 8110?

    I just got the phone yesterday and I'm still trying to figure it out. Its the new 8110 Blackberry Pearl for AT%26amp;T. I'd like to change the color for the trackball. Anyone know how?



    Also is there a way to use the usb cable that came with the phone to upload ringtones to the phone?Anyway to change the trackball on my Blackberry Pearl 8110?This is not possible with the newer Pearls.



    The original Pearl 8100 hosted different colors of LED Lights underneath the trackball, which made it possible to change the color of the light with a program.



    However, with the next generation of Pearls, the multi-colored LED Lights were replaced with the default colorless LED.



    The only way to change the light is to take out the trackball, and color the LED Light with a sharpie of the color of your choice. However, this WILL void your warranty.

The ONLY device that has this functionality is the Pearl 8100 model. The second-generation Pearls (8110, 8120, 8130), BlackBerry 88xx models (8800, 8820, 8830) and Curve series (8300, 8310, 8320, 8330) can't do this.



    What people have done is either physically take the track ball out and color it, or place a piece of colored tape over the LED lights under the track ball.

    Try All The Websites Till Yhoo Find One That Works!! Yhoo Can Choose From Quite A Few Colours, And Can Make Yhoor Own As Well!!



    It Should Also Be A .alx And A .cod File



    Then Go Into Blackberry Manager (Or Similar Worded) Click On Applications And Upload Onto Yhoo Device. It Should Automatically Recognise The Correct Files Of The Colourpearl Application



    Once On The Device Go Into Yhoor Applications List And It Should Be There.



    Don't Worry If When Yhoo First Turn The Phone On It Goes Blank And Takes A While To Load, This Is Normal. But if An Application Error Message Comes Up, Plug Back Into PC And Remove That Colourpearl Application. Download And Try Another One!!

    How do you change the trackball color on a blackberry pearl?

    I guess I'm a idiot b/c I've download the free programs from geekandproud.com and www.mobireport.com/apps/pmp and I can't %26quot;open%26quot; the files from my computer once they are downloaded. I also download Izarc and can't figure out how to open them with that. The file extensions are alx, cod, and jad.

    Kay so my model is the 8100 and i want to change the color of the trackball, what do i have to download or get to change this feature ? And also does anyone know how i can lock my texting

    or any other apps on my phone. Im not talking about locking my phone with a password, im talking about the individual app locking that with a password my friend has it on hers but she forgot how she got it done. Thank You :)

    %26quot;The BlackBerry 8800 and Curve/8300 do not have the colored LEDs behind the trackball, so there is no way to make ColorPearl work on them.%26quot;



    Sorry!How to change the trackball color of the blackberry curve?Although there are no color LED's for any other blackberrys other than the Blackberry 8100 (Pearl) the curve still does have a white LED so if you disassemble the ball part and place a piece of scotch tape over the LED it will shine through as blue.

(preferably sharpie) and let it dry. when its dry put the piece of tape in and put them back together.

    To change your trackball color on OS 4.5+, check out BlingBall. I may at some point write ColorPearl for 4.5, but with BlingBall available it doesn檛 seem necessary.

    You can change it without the internet on your phone. But, do you have the 8100...This application only works for 8100, It is the only device with the colored LEDs behind the trackball. There will not be a version for the 8800, Curve/8300, Pearl 2/8120/8130...Here are the steps to do it:



    Go to http://www.geekandproud.net/blackberry-s



    Scroll down to %26quot;Color Pearl%26quot; and click on the %26quot;Zipped alx/cod%26quot; and click on %26quot;Save%26quot; (it will install it on your desktop ).



    Go to where you saved the file, right click on the file, and select %26quot;Extract All%26quot;



    Then hook up your phone to the desktop with the usb cable. Open your blackberry media manager on your desktop. Click on %26quot;application loader%26quot; and select the extracted file %26quot;colorpearl%26quot;
